Shockingly, between 2019 and 2021, 34 homeless children have died because of the state of the temporary accommodation that they have been housed in. Most of the children who died were under the age of 1 and died of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. Many of the children died because they did not have access to a cot during their stay.
It is shocking that in the 5th largest economy in the world, children are dying due to a lack of access to a cot. That is why Siobhain has launched her campaign to make sure that every family with a child under the age of 2 that is living in temporary accommodation is provided with a cot. This should put a stop to these very tragic cases.
