Local Democracy Week is one of the standout
dates in the Parliamentary calendar for Siobhain with the School Councils from
primary schools across the constituency invited to Parliament for a guided tour
and a discussion about what democracy means to them.
Over 100 students visited and, without
exception, were a credit to their schools.
The
week continued with a visit from Merton Youth Parliament, with 30 students aged
11-19 from across our secondary schools and colleges coming together to have
their say on how we can make Merton a wonderful place to live. The students
thoroughly enjoyed their visit and can take the inspiration of Parliament back
to Merton Youth Parliament at their next meeting.
