Coronavirus: Do you need help?

Home / News & Views / News / Coronavirus: Do you need help?

24 April 2020

Morrisons Locally, it is in times like this that we see the very best of our community. I have been inundated with people offering their help, support and time for the most vulnerable in our community. Many of us will have friends or neighbours who we are concerned for, but others may have nobody else to turn to.

Whether it is phoning friends who may be on their own or asking neighbours if they need any further support, we all have a part to play.

A number of individuals and organisations have gone above and beyond. Supporters of AFC Wimbledon have come together through the wonderful Dons Local Action Group to provide support right across the borough, offering time, food and even technology to those in need. Meanwhile, Merton Mutual Aid, led by local resident Zak, are coordinating invaluable assistance and support to neighbours right across our community. Countless other residents are volunteering through Merton Voluntary Service Council, led by Beau, mobilising to help isolated households and those most at risk.

If you or others require help, please contact Merton Voluntary Service Council by emailing help@mvsc.co.uk or calling 020 8685 2272.

To everyone offering their time and help in any way – we cannot thank you enough. If you would like to volunteer, please email volunteer@mvsc.co.uk.

In the meantime, please continue to look out for your neighbours, consider others when shopping, and follow all of the latest Government guidance for the safety of yourself and others.
